Devoted to inspiring confidence in performing arts

Shene Stage School is devoted to inspiring confidence in performing arts whilst maintaining a relaxed and friendly environment in which students can work and socialise.

All our teachers are fully qualified and have extensive experience in all elements of their chosen field. By offering sessions in Drama, Music and Dance, we aim to nurture their talents, self-confidence and enthusiasm. We pride ourselves on getting to know each child individually and help them achieve their own personal goals.

Shene Stage School operates weekly on a Saturday morning, from 10 am to 1 pm The morning consists of three sessions each of one hour in duration. In between sessions, a short break of fifteen minutes occurs, in which drinks and biscuits are provided and the children are given a chance to relax and ‘cool down’ between classes.

Music is taught by Rosa Lennox who is a musical director, actor musician and singer. She trained at Mountview Academy. Rosa was the MD for “Can-Can!” at the Union Theatre, and assistant MD for “San Domino” at the Tristan Bates’ Theatre. Her actor musician credits include Peggy Tibbets in “Brass”, Olivia in “Twelfth Night” and Barbara Castle in “Made in Dagenham”. Rosa is singing accordionist and performs at concerts, weddings and funerals and has worked extensively with children for 10 years.

Drama is taught by Sophie Hallett who has been teaching drama for over 20 years. The lessons are very much a collaborative process. The children and Sophie work closely together to create work developed as a group. The emphasis is for the children to feel in control of what they are doing and for Sophie to guide them to the end result. They write scripts together and work on improvisation (a definite favourite) as well as physical theatre, vocal technique, mime, mask work and above all else helping the children to feel great about who they are and what they do.

Dance is taught by Lee Harvey Robinson who has been working with Shene Stage School for over 5 years. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and as a result he and the children produce exciting and original work they create together. As well as being a brilliant performer Lee teaches extensively in the local boroughs.
Styles include modern, jazz, hip hop and musical theatre.
